Check it out The fifth grade at Bellamy Elementary is embarking on a year-long project that caught the attention of Eyewitness News.

The project is called "Postcards Across America!" The fifth grade will be collecting postcards with the goal of receiving one from all 50 states. They are asking any friends, teachers and/or family members who will be traveling or live in a different state to send in postcards! Fifth-grade teachers sent home a note home stating" We would love the postcards to have a quick note from the person sending it, who they may know at the school, and any info about the city's it's from!"

The project is meant to engage students in learning about United States geography and culture. The idea was inspired by Bellamy fifth grade teacher Mr. Royce. Mr. Royce taught 4th-grade for 10 years where they focused on New York geography and history. Since we live here, it was possible to bring the students to experience New York first hand by taking field trips to places like Albany, Cooperstown, Syracuse, and the Adirondacks. When he moved to fifth grade and the learning spread to the Western United States, he wanted to think of an interactive way to learn about these places without being able to physically take his students there. That's when he thought of the postcards!

Please help the fifth-grade by sending them postcards! You can mail to Bellamy Elementary 7118 Brennon Ave. Rome NY, 13440 or send them with your students to school! Check out the link below for the interviews!
