On January 17, 2018, the Denti Dash and Dot Coding Club presented to the Board of Education.
The project started with an after school Coding Club of 15 students meeting twice a week for 10 weeks. The students wanted to show Board of Education, Superintendent, and their parents a few of the fun things the Dash and Dot robots can be programmed to do using a block code.
Four students- Dakota Morrison, Kaylee Symula, Mason Bednarek, and Evan Lewthwaite had the idea to present “a day in the life of a student”. The robots were coded to come off a school bus in line, shoot baskets, draw the Olympic rings, spell, and play the xylophone. The students have worked very hard since before the Holiday break coming to school at 8 in the morning to get ready for their presentation.
The students incorporated all the aspects of S.T.E.A.M. in this project. Science, the use of simple machines, Technology, coding robots on ipads, Engineering, building the lego attachment, Art, creating the set designs, and Math, measuring angles, speed and distance.
The club is lead by Mrs. Tarbania, Mrs. Urbanik, PC Specialists, Technology Integration and Mrs Alger, Computer Lab Sysop.
