The Denti LEGO Robotics Club is gearing up for their FIRST LEGO competition on Sunday, January 13th at Central Valley Academy. The Gregory B. Jarvis Middle School will host the tournament that will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to the public.

This year’s theme is “Into Orbit,” a study of space exploration.

On January 9th students in the LEGO Robotics Club at Denti worked on skills to get ready for their first competition. Club advisors, Rob Mahardy, 6th-grade teacher and Jeffrey DeMatteis, parent, coached the students on their presentation skills, core values (character traits and specific examples) and the robot challenge board, all which are important to those judging the competition on Sunday. Winning teams will move on to the regional competition at SUNY Polytechnic Institute from March 13 to 16.

The LEGO robotics club started in September.
