Reading ChallengeRidge Mills Principal, Mr. Flagg, finally delivered on his promise on Monday, June 17. The students of Ridge Mills crushed their reading goal of 400,000 minutes. The “Go ‘Pig’ or Go Home” challenge started in March and included the entire school working together to read. Ellie the Pig, famous for her book “Ellie the Pig Goes to School” by local author Christina Wall, has been counting down the days until the big kiss! The students were able to choose 3 other pig kissers which included Mrs. Frisch, Miss Sanzone, Coach Bevilacqua.

The big day coincided with Ridge Mills annual fun day and 1st-grade students put on the play “The Three Little Pigs”.

Narrators - Josie Summa and Jude Sestito
Mother Pig - Livia O'Rourke
Pig 1 - Peyton Scanlan
Pig 2 - Boluwarin Adeyeye
Pig 3 - Nolan Kramer
Wolf - Jason Doyle
Chorus - Mrs. Frisch's Class

The Literacy Committee was comprised of 6th-graders who helped lead the assembly and planned for this event. They also helped Mr. Flagg prepare by providing him with pig kissing essentials such as chapstick, cough drops, and a mint (Ellie was thankful). Thank you to Lily Mirabelli, Mariana Ciccone, Aaron Pickett, Karl vanHoesel.

Awesome job, Ridge Mills! Keep on reading!
