Instrument FundAs the Rome Music Department continues to grow and flourish, we are in need of new instruments for our students to use grades 5-12 in both band and orchestra.

Director of Fine Arts and Engineering Technology, Andrea Falvo, has been working closely with the Rome Community Foundation and has secured approximately $11,000 in grants to purchase instruments this past fall.

The music department was also awarded additional money from First Source Federal Credit Union in February as well as  $28,000.00 in funding through a Title IV grant. Title IV is under the new bipartisan Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title IV, Part A approves activities in 3 areas, one of which is providing students with a well-rounded education including programs such as college and career counseling, STEM, arts, civics, and International Baccalaureate/Advanced Placement.

Falvo has announced that the music department is seeking to raise $100.000.00 total to replace instruments that are unable to be repaired as well as provide opportunities for more students to participate in the 5-12 instrumental program.

The Rome Community Foundation has graciously offered to match an additional $5,000.00 in funding from private donors or organizations.

Mrs. Falvo expressed her gratitude to the Board of Education and the Rome Community for their continued support.

The Rome City School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) for 3 consecutive years.

If you are interested in making a donation, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Falvo directly at afalvo@romecsd.org or 315-338-6515.
