Posted on 05/15/2017
Image 1On June 16th the Staley library was dedicated in loving memory of Fred Zamperetti who passed away in 2015. Family, friends, Board of Education members and administrators gathered with the Staley family to hear memories of Fred, see a slideshow and listen to the Staley orchestra perform, “Amazing Grace”. Afterwards they plaque was placed next to Fred's photo as you enter the library.

Karen Miller, former Staley Principal (current Stokes Principal) worked with Fred Zamperetti for five years. She remarked that Fred was a great leader, great colleague and a great friend and he always had a way of bringing out the best in everyone. He had an infectious smile that would light up any room. At the end of the long day he would lift my spirits with three little word, “Great Job Miller”, I would reply, “Great Job Zamperetti.

Former Staley Librarian, Cathy Woodruff, (current Ridge Mills Librarian) spoke about his love of the library and reading. Other speakers included, Board of Education President, Paul Fitzpatrick and Ellen Zamperetti (Fred’s widow). Ellen was presented with the plaque.

The plaque reads: In Loving Memory of Fred Zamperetti. A dedicated educator who loved children, learning and libraries. The Library is hereby named The Fred Zamperetti Library on this date, June 16, 2017.

Thanks to Tanya Davis from the PTG who wrote a letter to the Board of Education in support of naming the library after Fred. A special thanks to Mrs. Wenndt and Mrs. Schaal for their work in preparing the Staley Library for this celebration.
