On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, Staley, Bellamy, Denti, and Gansevoort 4th graders joined RFA C.E.A.L. Leaders, Rome City School District staff and Shana Hutton, NYS Environmental Conservation Officer on an Ice-fishing excursion on Delta Lake!


Camp C.E.A.L. (Character Education thru Adventure Learning) is an after-school program in which fourth graders at Staley, Bellamy, Denti, and Gansevoort Schools participate in recreational activities, which, are led by Rome Free Academy high school students.

The high school students (CEAL Leaders) are trained to plan, implement and evaluate activities. The 4th-grade students participate in activities, which reinforce character education skills.

Some activities in Camp CEAL include group games, new games, arts and crafts, skits/drama, group cooperatives, fitness, health and cultural activities. Also included are five adventures: ice fishing, snowshoeing, aquatic skills (kayaking and swimming) at RFA’s pool, camping/hiking skills and a hiking trip.
