Connected Community Schools Food Pantry at Staley Elementary hit a milestone today, December 16, 2020. 1 million pounds of food was given out to families in need since March, (277 days). “Each car receives 2-4 boxes of food depending if they are picking up for themselves or one other family. With approximately 500 cars today this donation can help in the neighborhood of 1,000 families,” said Melissa Roys, Executive Director of CCS.
What are in the boxes: Box 1 includes whole chicken, eggs, stuffing, cereal, potatoes, spaghetti, egg noodles, mac and cheese, dried milk, cookies and this month a holiday stuffed animal. Box 2 includes beef stew, canned chicken, canned beef, canned fruit, dried fruit, veggie soup, cream of mushroom, canned applesauce, canned corn and peanut butter.
"The drive up food distribution happens once a month, but the food pantry is open as well," said Roys. For more information contact the Community School Coordinator, Jessica Hampe at 315-313-2451 to ask how CCS can help students and families in need.
