Message from the Superintendent

Good Morning All:

I hope you have enjoyed a fun-filled, healthy, and restful holiday and were able to spend time with your loved ones. As we welcome students back into our classrooms from a well-deserved recess, our highest priority continues to be the health and safety of our students, families, and staff.  As you are aware, last week Governor Hochul and the NYSDOH announced a statewide goal of providing rapid COVID-19 test kits to counties, local municipalities, and schools. This morning, the District is anticipating the receipt of a shipment of rapid test kits (each kit containing two tests). The test kits will be distributed today (1/3), tomorrow (1/4), and Wednesday (1/5) at the District Offices, 409 Bell Road. Please see below for further details on pick-up times.

While there is no requirement that families test their children/student(s), the NYSDOH is encouraging the voluntary testing of students. The kits are iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Tests and can be used for either symptomatic or asymptomatic testing. If your child tests positive on the home test, your child must isolate for 10 days following the first positive result. Please contact the Oneida County Department of Health immediately to inform them and for further guidance. Parents can submit the results of any positive results obtained for COVID tests to the Oneida County Department of Health via the following link:
https://lfweb.ocgov.net/Forms/COVIDTestResults. Please note that the school district, nor the individual schools, will be collecting/reporting results.

Masks will be required indoors for both vaccinated and unvaccinated students and staff members as well as any visitors to the building.

Pick up times: MONDAY, 1/3, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., TUESDAY, 1/4, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., WEDNESDAY, 1/5, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Parents/Guardians will be required to complete a brief survey to acknowledge receipt of the test kit for tracking purposes. If you have questions regarding the distribution or any other protocols regarding the return to school, please contact your student's principal. As always, we remind you that if your student is exhibiting symptoms and/or has a fever, please keep them home from school. Thank you for your cooperation and we are hoping for a safe and healthy return to school for all.
