Lights, Camera, Action!John E. Joy Elementary School 6th graders from Ms. Guiliano's and Mrs. Robbins’ classes are famous! They are starring in, writing, recording, and editing their own morning announcements.

With the help of PC Specialist, Maryann Urbanik, 6th-grade volunteers are learning all about the entertainment biz. Angel Lane and Taylor Reome are scriptwriters/editors. Their script includes weather, birthdays, lunch specials, events, and more. They even work in some hilarious jokes.

They share the script through Google Slides so everyone can see and edit together. Piper Taylor and William McKeever III record and edit the video using the Do Ink app and iMovie. The students utilize a green screen which enables them to transform their backgrounds.

Kairi Robbins does it all! She has edited, starred on camera, and written the script. Layla Linder and Amelia Furbeck are co-anchors on camera. Without the help of each participant, this production wouldn’t be possible.

The announcements are recorded the day prior and are made available via an email link to the rest of the school in the morning.
This is the current crew, however, there have been several groups who have participated.

This project is a great opportunity for students to have hands-on learning and experience in technology, editing, writing, acting, and have some fun along the way. Following Ms. Marchione’s live once a week broadcast last year, Ms. Guiliano, Mrs. Robbins and Mrs. Urbanik decided to take it a step further after attending the MORIC Teacher Technology Expo.

With the help and enthusiasm of the students, it has turned into daily morning announcements.
