Staley CodingStaley Librarian, Mrs. Schaal is working with classrooms on an 'Hour of Code' activity this week. Today 5th graders in Mrs. Ironside’s class learned to use code to create a story with two characters.

Staley Elementary announced on November 29th that they have received $500 from the American Library Association (ALA) to help plan and implement coding activities. Hour of Code activities are planned this week (Dec. 3-9), which ties into Computer Science Education (CS Ed) Week 2018.

Staley is one of 250 school and public libraries around the country to receive this micro-funding from Libraries Ready to Code, an initiative of the American Library Association sponsored by Google.

Ironside's students watched a video and then had the opportunity to log on to the Scratch website and select an adventure they wanted to created. Ms. Bagall, Integrated Technology specialist for the MORIC was on hand to help students with the program.
