Wednesday Worker of the Week - Theresa Manganaro Strough 11.24.21

What is your job title?
ELA 7/8 teacher and Mom of The Emerald Knights

How many years have you worked at RCSD?

22 years

Favorite part of the job?

Helping my kids on their life paths and learning from them as I walk on my own. We teach each other so many things every day. My essential question for the year every year is- How can I become a better reader, writer, listener, speaker, and person this year? I stress to my kids that growing together and becoming better somehow is the most important.

My work family! I love seeing my people daily and it means the world to me when we are congregating in 110 talking about everything and anything. I tell my kids to find a career with your friends and it will never seem like a job.

What inspires you?

My Faith, My Family, My Friends, and My students.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at the RCSD?

My students reaching out to me after they have left Strough- at RFA, at college, in life (I've been here a while), and thanking me, telling me that I have helped them and made a difference. Meeting Mrs. Helen Sperling and learning from her. I had the honor and privilege of hearing her teach many times about her life and what she endured as a Holocaust survivor. As I share with my kids always, a bracelet that Mrs. Sperling gave to us all one year, "Thou Shall Not Be A Bystander!"

What is a fun fact about you?

I am the youngest of 7 children and loved school and growing up in my little town of Jordan. Also- I love to cook and bake for family and friends and would love to start a food blog, or host my own cooking show...or maybe be a QVC host
