11.18.20 staff spotlight

Daniele Muratore

Head Custodian at Stokes Elementary School

How long have you worked in the Rome City School District?
Close to 20 years

What is your favorite part of your job?

I enjoy working around the kids and the staff in my building. Knowing that I help prepare the facility each day so that the students and staff can come into a clean and safe environment is satisfying. I think of the building as if it is my own home. Each day I get to enjoy seeing the kids come into the building and greet me as “Mr. Dan” and over the years I’ve gotten to know and help a lot of wonderful staff members.

What inspires you?

Working under great leadership like Karen Miller motivates me, but serving the kids and putting a smile on their faces is what it’s really all about.

What’s been one of your proudest moments working at the RCSD?

Every September is a proud moment. We work hard all summer to create a clean and welcoming facility and opening day is always exciting when the staff and kids return. This was especially true when we were able to open up Cypress St as a temporary campus for Strough students. There was a lot of work that needed to be done to prepare the building for our middle school students and only a short amount of time to accomplish many tasks. Working with my crew to complete that transformation was a big job that was essential to the students and staff having a temporary home while Strough was renovated.

What is a fun fact about you?

I enjoy sports, but particularly soccer, which I played for many years.
