I attended the Rome City Schools for primary and secondary education. It was during my senior year of high school, while working as an intern in a Special Education classroom, when my devotion for working with students with disabilities began. My first year of college was spent at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I then transferred to SUNY Potsdam where I completed my undergraduate degree in Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. After college, I married my high school sweetheart and moved to Binghamton, NY. My first five years of teaching were spent as a Consultant Teacher at the high school level. I later transferred to the elementary level where I worked as the 12:1:1 self-contained classroom teacher. In 2015, my husband and I felt it was time to start expanding our family and move back to our hometown of Rome, NY. Currently, I've been teaching a total of 16 years. This is my seventh year at Strough Middle School. I am enjoying all of the new experiences of balancing my life as a mother of two and a full-time educator. Aside from teaching, I am a person who enjoys spending as much time as I can with family and friends. My hobbies include cooking, hiking, quilting, traveling and taking our dog for walks.
