Anna Do and artwork

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Awards, is honored to recognize Anna with the award. Her award-winning art is titled, “Touch of a Bow.”

More than 100,000 students submitted nearly 340,000 original works of art and writing to the 2024 Scholastic Awards. Anna’s work was chosen by esteemed leaders in the visual and literary arts for its excellence in originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. With fewer than 2,500 works receiving a National Medal, Anna’s accomplishment places her within the top 8% of all submissions.

“Anna is an exceptional artist and student, and this recognition is well deserved,” said her Advanced Drawing and Painting Teacher Megan Anderegg. After graduation she will be attending SUNY Oneonta in the fall, majoring in fashion design.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Awards have celebrated teen artists and writers from across the nation. Anna is now part of this prestigious legacy, joining the ranks of notable alumni such as Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol—all of whom were Scholastic Awards winners in their youth.

The Alliance is proud to publish Anna’s work in their Online Galleries at artandwriting.org. Additionally, her name will be listed in Yearbook 2024, a companion to the annual art and writing anthologies that feature selections of works by National Medalists.
