Staff Spotlight for Wednesday, December 13 - Alyssa Clayton

Wednesday's Worker of the Week for December 13 is Alyssa Clayton, a Preschool Teacher at Clough School.

How long have you worked in the RCSD?
This is my second year teaching in the RCSD.

What do you like most about your job?
Every day, I can make a difference in students' lives during a time that I believe is the most critical year of development. As their preschool teacher, I am tasked with building a foundation that fosters a love for learning. We have so much fun, and my students are excited to be at school. To me, that is incredibly fulfilling.

What inspires you?
My colleagues inspire me daily. As a new teacher, I always look at what the people around me are doing and ask questions. I am grateful to be a part of a school community with teachers willing to help one another with any task, big or small.

What is a fun fact about you?
When I’m not working, whether at school or my family's restaurant, I love to be in the woods; I spend much of my free time hiking and camping in the mountains up north. I aspire to become an Adirondack 46er but have only completed nine high peaks thus far. The high peaks can be incredibly difficult, but the hike is so rewarding.

“Ms. Clayton is a young teacher who goes above and beyond to make sure all her students are happy and learning each and every day. My son absolutely adores her. As a teacher myself and a parent, I am very impressed with her classroom set up and the way she conducted herself at our parent-teacher conference. New teachers need recognition too,” said Lindsay Walker, who nominated Clayton.
