The RFA Girls Varsity Bowling Team has been undefeated since January 12, 2017, when they lost to Proctor. But exactly five years later (January 12, 2022) the Black Knights beat their rival Proctor with a score of 11-0 last night! You could say for the last five years they are on a roll.
“Our goal is to continue our undefeated streak. We are 48-0 entering the season. Now that we are able to travel and have live in-person matches, we are looking forward to getting back to sectionals and defend our big-school title and go back to back to back trips to states,” said Coach, Bryan Rondeau.
The team may be small, but they are a cohesive group of girls. They are led by Coach Bryan Rondeau. The roster includes: McKenzie Pantola, senior; Sarah Street, junior; Haley Taylor, sophomore; Olivia Hluska, freshman; Mylie Weyant, Sophia Iglesias-Tosti, Izabelle Kotary (Izzy) and Sophira Talerico, 8th graders.
RFA has one senior on the team, McKenzie Pantola. After graduation in June she plans on attending St. John Fisher to study Biology. While in Rochester she will continue to bowl.
The winning streak is contributed in part to Coach Rondeau, who has been bowling since he was 4 years old! He bowled in college 20 years ago and knows the game. In addition, the girls practice year-round.
