Utica author, Jermiko Thomas, visited 5th grade classrooms at Stokes Elementary School. Mr. Thomas read one of his books, "The Bully-Free Brigade," and encouraged students to always prioritize education. Students and teachers enjoyed a Q&A session where they got to ask Mr. Thomas about his childhood, what made him want to pursue writing, the writing process and what it takes to publish a book. We truly appreciate our community and how they inspire our students!

Shannen Calandra propels RFA girls lacrosse to victory over undefeated Whitesboro. Rome and Whitesboro played on 5/1 as they both came in as undefeated in the TVL. Rome won 14-5 and Shannen led our offense with 4 goals. Shannen not only led our team in goals against Whitesboro, but she does so much more than what the stats show. Her hard work and constant hustle is second to none. Shannen leads by example on the field and is deadly when she gets the ball in the 8.
Shannen currently has 17 goals, 3 assists and 9 ground balls so far this season.
Congratulations to RFA seniors Kenneth Davis and Colyn Seeley who came in first place in the AFRL STEM challenge competition today at Innovare Advancement Center for they presentation on hyperdimensional computing! Their teacher is Albert Bangs.
Stokes 5th grade students in Mrs. Cardarelli and Mrs. Carpenter's classrooms spent the month of March reading books from a series, "Who was..." to then later write research papers and create google slide presentations to teach others about the historical figure they studied. The students took it a step further and created a live wax museum for students and staff to visit in the morning. Families were invited to school and had fun pressing the red button to witness their young celebrities come to life.
