On October 17th, Gansevoort Elementary School hosted a 'Happy Hair Clinic,' featuring MOBOCES Cosmetology seniors and their instructor, Tammy Foster, who provided haircuts and styling services to registered families. Parents were thrilled to see the students in action as they worked on their children's hair.
MOBOCES senior Emma Stagner, expressed her enthusiasm for potentially expanding this event in the future to include more students, schools, and additional services like nail painting. She mentioned that it provides valuable hands-on experience.
Shakera with the 'Cuse Curlfriend' also contributed by teaching the Cosmetology students about curly hair care techniques.
In addition to the cosmetology services, Connected Community Schools, represented by Katie Fountain, supplied hair care products, while the Naacp Rome NY Branch, with Tom Nelson and Antoinette Mumpton, provided valuable healthcare information.
