The Air Force Research Lab, with support from the Griffiss Institute, is proudly sponsoring the AFRL/RI STEM Virtual Engineering Club!
The Virtual Engineering Club will be January 16-March 29th for students in 5th-8th grade, and registration is now open. Students can sign up for either a Tuesday session or a Thursday session for a two-hour weekly camp (3:30 pm-5:30 pm). Participation is limited to 20 students per session.

Virtual Engineering Club Program Information
• This Virtual Engineering Club is a virtual STEM after-school program designed to engage students in using their minds and hands to learn basic principles of engineering by designing, building, testing, and redesigning their own working devices. The curriculum combines guided investigations with fun, open-ended design challenges, emphasizing hands-on experience in solving practical engineering problems through creativity and the application of scientific ideas.
Format, Schedule & General Info
◦ Students in grades 5-8 will work in online groups and in solo home activities using recycled or inexpensive craft materials and simple electronic components to build and test their own engineering creations. Materials will be provided and no prior experience is required.
◦ This club will be offered via Zoom with a Tuesday or Thursday option for 10 weeks, January 16, 2024 - March 29, 2024. Students will need to select either Tuesday or Thursday to participate in the two-hour weekly camp 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM EST, and cannot change which day they will participate after signing up. The Tuesday and Thursday clubs will both host up to 20 students each. This camp is provided free of charge.
◦ Note: There will be no virtual clubs the week of February 19th-February 26th

Engineering Club will be sent via email. The application will remain open until slots have been filled. If information is incomplete, your slot will be held for 24 hours following the request for additional information, then the slot will move to the next time-stamped request.
