The RFA News Studio was renamed the “Alana Iacovissi Studio” on Thursday, June 29, as Alana, family, friends, and staff gathered to celebrate. This renaming ceremony served as a tribute to Alana Iacovissi, a former news anchor and a graduate of the class of 2022.
Kaila Garramone, the advisor of The RFA Knightly News, expressed how Alana had been a remarkable source of inspiration for the news team. Throughout the challenging period of the COVID pandemic, Alana’s comforting voice and radiant smile had a profound impact on everyone involved.
At the conclusion of each broadcast, Alana would virtually exchange a high-five with her co-anchor, Alana Fragapane, while delivering a powerful message to the RFA community: “Remember, RFA, take charge and show some RFA Pride! We are all in this together!”
In addition to her achievements as a news anchor, Alana Iacovissi contributed significantly to the RCSD Board of Education as a student member during the 2021-22 term. She served as the President of STASS (Student Association of the School) and was a valued National Honor Society and Leo Club member. Furthermore, Iacovissi generously donated $1,000, which is granted to each departing Board member to support meaningful endeavors. Carl Manganaro, FTE in Rome/Technology Integration Specialist for MORIC, produces the RFA Knightly News. He said the donation was utilized to purchase various items. These include a professional backdrop, a wireless microphone set, a cam link for streaming purposes, and a plaque.
Alana’s mother, Anne, her father, Dave, her sister, Jillian Iacovissi, and other family members were all at the celebration, sharing the joyous moment as the RFA News Studio was forever associated with Alana’s remarkable legacy.
