Staff Spotlight for 9.13.23 – Christina Steurrys

Wednesday Worker of the Week is RFA Science teacher, Christina Steurrys

How long have you worked in the RCSD?
This is my 20th year in district

What do you like most about your job?
Spending each day with our students and watching them learn and grow is the best part of my job. In addition, I get to work with dedicated and passionate colleagues who share that same love.

What inspires you?
”Fall 7, Rise 8” Japanese proverb. People who struggle and don’t give up. Knowing that every day there are students and staff who walk through our doors who are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, yet they show up, work hard, and demonstrate respect and kindness to others.

What is a fun fact about you?
In addition to being a teacher, I am also a veterinarian. I still practice telemedicine part time in addition to teaching.

Brittany Fiorenza-House nominated Steurrys. "Ms. Steurrys is not only an amazing teacher, she is dedicated to the students that she has in her class and even ones not in her class. She goes above and beyond for students and makes sure they are headed in the right direction. Ms. Steurrys had my son at Strough and she made it such an enjoyable time for him. When she moved up to RFA my son was so excited to see her again! He didn't have her as his teacher but she made it a point to find him and let him know that she was here for him and if he needed any help to come find her. She deserves this award a million times over again!! Thank you Ms. Steurrys for everything that you do for my son and the students of RSCD!"
