Mohawk Valley Community College seeks to partner with MO Boces to help recruit and prepare youth in grades 9 and 10 to participate in the award winning PROPEL program, an educational opportunity they may officially begin in their junior year. To do so, MVCC’s Center for Corporate & Community Education (CCED) proposes the offering of a week-long summer enrichment camp as a part of the College for Kids & Teens, non-credit, community education program.
In this project-based camp, students will be posed with a real-life technology challenges and problems where they must come together in teams of four to formulate a solution. Class will be directed by one main instructor and each team will have a teaching assistant to guide them. The projects will incorporate aspects from each of the four main themes of PROPEL: Business Administration, Cybersecurity-Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drone Technology). This exciting experience will allow students to refine their problem solving skills, make connections with local business and industry, receive an in-depth introduction to college programming, and build relationships with their team members and peers.
