Staff Spotlight for October 24

Jessica Lawson, PreK Teacher

How long have you worked in the district?

This is my third year with the district.

What do you like most about your job?

There are many reasons why I love teaching. I love seeing how excited my students are to come to school in the morning. I love being part of a strong, collaborative, and supportive team. However, my absolute favorite part of teaching is the growth of my class throughout the year. It’s beautiful to recognize their journey and achievements, whether that be academically, socially or emotionally.

What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from my ability to positively impact the lives of my students. When my students leave my class, I hope they believe in themselves the way that I believe in them. I hope they leave with the confidence and courage to become whoever they dream to be. I’ve been blessed with family, friends, colleagues, and educators who encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Having someone believe in you can truly make a difference and I hope to be that person for each and every one of my students.

What is a fun fact about you?

My favorite place to be is in the mountains, especially during the fall months!
