One of the highlights is a Built/Designed replica of the Rosa Parks bus.
WOVEN TOGETHER IN HISTORY - EVERY GREAT DREAM BEGINS WITH A DREAMER
Strough Middle School is hosting a “Woven Together in History” event sponsored by the Strough PBIS team and Connected Community Schools on February 14-15.
WHAT - The gym will be turned into an interactive museum representing how Black Americans affect culture within the United States.
Items included:
· Posters around the gym with photos and information of impactful people made by Administrative Intern, Vanessa Vaccaro and Strough students.
- Technology (Mr. Wilson, Mr. White) and art teachers (Mrs. Finney, Ms. Schaffauer) built/designed a replica of the Rosa Parks bus.
- RFA students, under the direction of Michele Rushford, will be singing, Stand Up by Cynthia Erivo.
- Artifacts of history on display at a table sponsored by the Afro-American Historical Society (AAHS).
- Video of the NAACP history being played with NAACP members available to talk.
- A table on the history of Rome by the Jervis Public Library.
WHO - The idea came from a vision of Mr. Faulkner’s, Student Support Specialist, to help support Black History Month. In collaboration with administration (Mr. O’Rourke, Ms. Davis & Mrs. Mursch) and Strough staff so his idea could come to fruition.
